Can You Believe It’s Been 7 Months Since My Tummy Tuck?

Well, it has been! I got the original surgery in June 2010. It’s been awhile since I updated, I figured I should post some pictures of what it looks like now. The difference is amazing. (click here to see my before pics, and underneath all my tummy tuck posts are links to other tummy tuck posts I’ve done.) It’s hard to even remember my tummy being all wrinkly.

I still don’t have a six pack like I thought I would. But that’s ok. I’m not complaining, I just thought I would be able to see the muscles a bit more. But maybe if I worked out harder and stopped eating so much junk food I would see better results? lol

Since the surgery I’ve lost about 5 pounds. I haven’t changed my diet, or worked out anymore than I always do. So, I’m guessing that that is how much my extra skin and belly fat weighed. (Remember I got a little bit of lipo on my tummy and sides.) That is a lot of extra skin! Right now I weigh about 121.  And when I went in for the tummy tuck I think I weighed 126.

I really like my new belly button. It’s kinda big, but not as big as it was! It still feels a little weird, like it’s not really MY belly button, but it’s fun to look at.

The scar on my right side still bothers me. I have yet to find a bikini that covers it up. The scar is actually a little darker than it’s showing in these photos. I’ve used silicone scar strips until they just wouldn’t stick anymore. My husband keeps telling me to use Neosporin…. I don’t think Neosporin is gonna do the job, I’m thinking about trying Mederma. Anyone have any suggestions?

Healing wise, I’m doing just fine. There are still places on my tummy that are numb. Like there are just some spots on my skin that pretty much have no feeling, but that’s normal. And I had lots of numb skin before the surgery since the twins stretched my skin out so far.

There’s also a weird spot above my belly button that gets really sore if I do too much ab work. Like it feels like it’s on fire! Just the weirdest burning feeling I have ever experienced. But it goes away after awhile. I still work out my abs. Always trying for that six pack!

As you can see I still have some stretch marks. I knew I would. But they are really faint. And you can only see them up close like this. When I get a spray tan (Not all orange and Snooki like! Just a little kiss of color! lol) you won’t be able to see them at all.

If I ever find a bikini that I like, and that covers up most of that ugly scar I will let you know! Although I don’t think the Hubs is too thrilled with the idea of me putting bikini pics on my blog….  But it’s really no different than going to the beach or the pool in a bikini is it? People will see either way.

Maybe Victoria’s Secret will want to send me a few super sexy suits to try?? Wouldn’t that be awesome!?

Glad you are happy...that's what counts...and you look amazing! Not sure I could endure a surgery like that...looks painful. YIKES! However, worth it in the end...especially if you are happy! Congrats!

Screw the scar! Go ahead and wear your bikini hot mama!! My doc told me they have a lady that does laser treatments on scars to make them significantly lighter. The nurse told me it would probably cost around $100. Have you checked into anything like that?

The scar will fade over time and become really light. Vitamin E helps scars as well. However, you look fantastic! Very Sexy Stephy!

You look so skinny! Turned out great. I'm still working on finding my abs. Things aren't too bad but carrying twins to term definitely left me with extra skin from the belly button down. It's just poochy and I can't seem to get rid of it. I weigh 126 now, lol.

You look great. My daughter had surgery on the inside of her knee a year ago December. We were advised to put Mederma on it daily and a very strong sunscreen ... even if she is wearing long pants. He told us that the sun would make the scar worse. After all this time, I have to say, it seems to have worked ... the scar is only visible if you are really looking for it. However, I must tell you that she was only 4 at the time. I don't know about you but my personal observation is that my kiddos heal way better than I do as an adult.

Anyhoooo, you look great and I don't think you should give a moments thought to what you wear.

I've had the same burning feeling where my c-section incision was but after a while it does go away. Hopefully yours will too.

I so want one of those (tuck) when I'm finished having babies! Thanks for sharing your experience with the world.

THat looks great! I would love to be in a bikini again. I had 4 BIG babies (my biggest 9 1/2 lbs!) I have separated abdominals...they never went back together :( And a hirniated (sp??) belly button. Did you have any of that. Just wondering...comtemplating...darn babies, they wrecked my boobs and my tummy!

Ditto to P of S. I have heard good things about the lazers and about the scar cream and I know that you are very aware of them but I think you should strut your hot bod down the beach with all your boys in tow and say oh yeah I had all of these and look like this! Rock it!

WOW! You look terrific! Now go show off that beautiful bod of yours!!

Have a nice day!

I would think Mederma would be worth a try. Neosporin wouldn't do anything since the skin is already healed.

This is my non-medical opinion.

Lookin' good & good luck on the 6-pack!

I'm gonna echo Cessy...screw the scar and sport the kini!! Rock it out girl! You've earned it :O) My cousin just had a tuck and a boob job. I really want boobs *grin* I'm just not one for surgery. The whole hospital doctor thing just freaks me out.

I would use the Mederma...unless the doctor has something!

Be sure to shop early for your swim suit. I am sure you will find a cute one.

Looks great. You should have taken a photo on you holding up your shirt, from afar, so we can actually see that this IS you, dork! I know it is, though, I saw your skinny ass in person!

You are very brave!! I think I'll just stick with the extra skin because after three C-sections, I've got enough scars from surgeries.

They make a waterproof makeup especially designed to cover up scars, etc. I used to sell it when I worked for JC Penny's. I can't for the life of me remember the name but it realllly worked and looked flawless when applied properly. Then you could wear whatever you wanted! Google it!

That looks a lot like what my c/s scars would look like at first. After about 18 months they've been hardly noticeable. (I've had 4, but there is just one scar. The doctors have cut in the same place each time.) Keep doing what you are doing. Time will help make them fade.

I'm with the other ladies: wear the bikini anyway! You look great!

You are so brave posting your TT experience, i admire you and appreciate your story so much. I am one week post op from my TT and lipo (woo hoo!). I didn't have twins, but over 2 pregnancies, my stomach was JUST ANNIHILATED! I felt a tt was the only way to regain some self confidence, so here we are. Your tummy looks great. I'm sorry about the high scar, I'd be upset too about that if it were me. I guess the scar is the biggest risk we take by doing this. I always told myself I'd take a scar any day over a big, belly hangover! Anyhow, you go girl! You look awesome. :)

That looks amazing!!! You know I'm considering this! Will you come hold my hand? hee hee

And Maderma? LOVE it! I have so many scars, from various things, abuse from the ex, cancer, you know all the usual stuff....and it does wonders!! One of these days I'll be brave enough to post pics from my surgery and you'll see just what it does. BUT....make sure you always keep it moist, moist, moist. Meaning if you even just put a cream on every day, it will significantly help.

Just before I read "like it’s not really MY belly button" I was thinking that would be really weird, having your belly button changed. Odd, isn't it, how something you generally don't think about at all would suddenly become so significant when something happens to change it?

You look great! I am bigger & older, so I am envious in the flat & thin body anyhoo! My c/s & hyster scars faded naturally after a year or so, but any scar cream or cocoa butter? neo is for infections, it may lubricate the spot, but not lighten it. Congrats on your success!

Aunt Juicebox said...

I have had luck with Mederma! It takes a little time, but you've got some before bikini weather anyway...it does fade the scar. I've used it on my face and my legs, I scar very easily. I don't know how well it works on the texture of a scar, if you know what I'm saying...I've only tried it on new, flat scars. You can always wear a bathing suit that has those boy shorts for now, give yourself some more time for the scarring to fade? Or use a wrap? As for the spray tan covering up the stretch marks, I hope that works...it seems to me like it might put it in more relief and you could see them more? I guess you'll just have to try it and see. And show us of course, so we know if it works. lol

You look awesome. I would proudly wear a bikini, scar or no scar!

I am going to have to agree with the other posters! Screw the scar, find a bikini you love and go and strut your stuff! You deserve to celebrate after all your hard work.
