Gettin’ Skinny Friday ~ 1 Year Since My Tummy Tuck (I’m In A Bikini!!)

Usually Friday is where I share fitness tips, healthy food, tricks I learned on my journey to losing 50 lbs, or what I think about people who make rude comments about my skinny butt. But today I wanted to celebrate my healthy living lifestyle with a bikini post!

Because …….

It has been one year since my tummy tuck, can you believe it?? Well, one year and a couple weeks. Hey, I needed more time to squeeze in some extra crunches!

If this is your first time here, or you just need a refresher check out this post to see what my tummy looked like before surgery. -----> What A Real Mommy Tummy Looks Like And this was the first post I did after my surgery ------> So, I Got A Tummy Tuck. Also, if you’re curious as to how my tummy got so stretched out to begin with check out this Rockin’ The Bump post.

Really, it feels weird to be posting all these pics…(I can never claim to not be vain again.) But I went through a lot of pain and paid a crap ton of money to be able to wear a bikini again – SO, I am posting these pictures!! lol Plus I’m sure you have all just been dying to know how my tummy tuck turned out right?!

Well – Here it is! My tummy is all nice and smooth. My belly button is a little large, but still a million times better than it was before. My scar that I was always complaining about isn’t so bad when I’m all spray tanned. It is still higher than I was expecting, and it is darker in real life than in these pictures. But still, I just try to ignore it. I’m not going to let that scar prevent me from wearing bikini’s or anything else I want to wear!

My mom took some pics for me after she spray tanned me, but since I wanted to make sure I had plenty to choose from (there’s that vain thing again….) I had my 10 yr old snap some pics of me in my parents front yard.

So yea…

I’m sure my moms neighbors were all wondering what the hell I was doing. And my 10 yr old son will make a great Sports Illustrated photographer some day. Or he’s going to need lots of therapy, really it could go either way.

I tried to get a close up of my scar, the flash washed it out a bit. But you can tell that it is a good couple of inches above my bikini bottoms, and a lot higher than it is on the other side. Also if you can see that weird spot on my left above my belly button, yea I don’t know what the hell that is. I’ve been trying to get rid of it, it’s probably time to go to the skin doc.

And here are a bunch more pictures because I’m obviously vain.

All in all even though the tummy tuck was extremely painful, and I needed a scar revision (which ended up being a whole ‘nother surgery!), and I spent months swollen and healing -

It was worth it!!

Now I just need new boobs!! (hint hint Hubs… )

You look amazing! You could model swimsuits.

You rock my dear. I told you the scar would get better :). Your doc did a great job. New boobs hurt but I've been told always worth it. The only one complaint I always heard they didn't go large enough. NOW that wasn't the case for one lady I had to special order implants for. Let's just say a 2 litter pop had nothing on her ... LOL

Lookin' Good! All that hard work certainly paid off! I know you'll keep it up! CONGRATS!

You look amazing and seriously wonder why I get a little irritated when you complain about you gaining a couple pounds?? And it's funny that Robert will let you post pics of this on the web where some crazy wmca stalker can find you and scope you out and now sees what you look like almost naked but won't let you jog in short shorts. I think he's got his head a little twisted. That's why he's always bringing home doughnuts! LOL!

You look fabulous!!!!

And if I looked like that, I'd probably walk around in a bikini all the time.

Thanks for posting your story. I read your comment a year ago that the surgery was a waste of money. You look great now. Especially compared to your before pictures. Amazing, really. I hope you are satisfied.

My wife is recovering now (4 weeks) and has some recurring liquid accumulation that is worrying us. She is under doctor care. But she didn't have nearly as much skin to remove as you did so the results should be better. If hers turns out as well as yours we will be happy.

You look Fanfreakingtastic!! Thanks for sharing your story. I am starting the wonderful process of researching and saving for a tummy tuck and stumbled across your blog.

Thanks for sharing!!

I TO HAD A TUMMY TUCK ONE YEAR AGO AND A SCAR REVISION DONE ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO AND IM STILL NOT HAPPY WITH THE SCAR ISSUES MY SCAR IS VERY RED AND KIELOIDED A LITTLE WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND DID YOU USE ANY THING FOR YOUR SCAR ? I AM DESPRET TO GET THIS SCAR TO LIGHTEN UP

The Blue Zoo said...

Hey guys - If you have a question for me make sure you leave your email in the comments so I can back to you!

After the surgery I only lost about 5 lbs. But I really didnt need to lose any more than that since I had already lost all the weight I was trying to lose.

My scar is still there. It certainly isnt perfect, but its not the worst Ive seen. I knew it wouldnt go away completely... But I do wish it wasnt there at all! lol

I tried that Mederma scar cream for awhile.. Im not sure it really did anything for me. But I have heard of treatments you can get from your plastic surgeon to lighten it up and help it fade faster.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
